As Covid-19 Pandemic spread throughout the globe, on 23 March 2020, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a new measure to combat the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in South Africa, followed by a nationwide lockdown with severe restrictions on travel and movement to avoid an enormous catastrophe among the population.
As part of the Covid-19 strategy, more than 10,000 community healthcare workers were deployed across the country for door-to-door household screening. Mobile technology played a vital role in the enablement for the community health workers to conduct their screening to refer symptomatic people to clinics for testing while generating reporting that will contribute with meaningful statistics for better insight for the Health Authorities. Cosmo-ICT was part of the support in deploying mobile devices used by the Community Health Workers.
